Being a Tooting local myself, the Bec station is close to my heart. My style is characterised by the use of vibrant colour, and in this digital drawing, compositional elements collide in a neon symphony.

Carien (OttoArtist) ha always been fascinated with the hidden character of trees. They cover our world and keep an enclosed and essential connection to the earth beneath our feet. Their frequency and stillness mean we often take them for granted and certainly spare no thought for their individual character, but each tree has their story to tell.

Food for thought explores modern human’s relationship with food. with social media channels folded with ‘food porn’, I aim to reflect meal times as something alive, magical. Seen from the perspective of the diner, each laid table exhibits something macabre, despite the bright spread. Movement, created by dots and stubby lines. And my favourite dishes from earth’s oceans, as well as the most important meal of the day - breakfast.

Are there really so many differences between us humans, and our furry, feathery or finny friends! I was fortunate enough to grow up on a farm in South Africa, surrounded by animals of all kinds; from baby crocks to wildebeests.

Habitat; a natural home or environment. I have thought a great deal about the concept of home, belonging or “natural environment” after living in various places in Africa and Europe. In the series; ‘Habitat’ I explore the notion that while there are man made borders, cultures, skin colour and gender divides, we are all one species. One family, one organism, inhabiting this beautiful planet.

There is a raw beauty in the link between the human body and landscapes. There is an understated power in any landscape, at once; both passive, yet vast and powerful, alive. This is reflected in the sensual curves of the figures portrayed. The communication is accentuated as the figures hold reclining poses, willingly you to travel the form visually, creating a self-imbued tension, with the calm acceptance of a landscape.
