Series : The Connected Nature of Trees
I have always been fascinated with the hidden character of trees. They cover our world and keep an enclosed and essential connection to the earth beneath our feet. Their frequency and stillness mean we often take them for granted and certainly spare no thought for their individual character, but each tree has their story to tell.

Series : Habitat
Habitat; a natural home or environment. I have thought a great deal about the concept of home, belonging or “natural environment” after living in various places in Africa and Europe. In the series; ‘Habitat’ I explore the notion that while there are man made borders, cultures, skin colour and gender divides, we are all one species. One family, one organism, inhabiting this beautiful planet.

Series : Nude as a Landscape
I see a raw beauty in the link between the human body and landscapes. There is an understated power in any landscape, at once; both passive, yet vast and powerful, alive. This is reflected in the sensual curves of the figures portrayed. The communication is accentuated as the figures hold reclining poses, willingly you to travel the form visually, creating a self-imbued tension, with the calm acceptance of a landscape.

About Colour Connect
My work is reminiscent of the Fauvists, a group of early twentieth-century Modern artists (Derain, Matisse) whose works emphasised painterly qualities and strong colour over the representational or realistic values, shocking the art world by it’s unexpected and sometimes stupefying use of colour.
In much the same way I use colour and form as the vehicle to express my feelings and understanding of the deep connection that underpins everything.
We are all essentially made of the same pigments, like a colourful tapestry, that we can only see a very small stitch off, but know we are part of the bigger picture we are weaving together.
As the notable astro physicists, Neil de Grasse Tyson answers so eloquently to the question: What is the most astounding fact about the universe; “…So that when I look up at the night sky and I know that yes, we are part of this universe, we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the Universe is in us. There’s a level of connectivity. That’s really what you want in life, you want to feel connected, you want to feel relevant, you want to feel like you’re a participant in the goings on of activities and events around you. That’s precisely what we are, just by being alive…”
